Free Airplane Flights for Kids
8-17 year olds can have a free flight through the Young Eagles program, which aims to encourage an interest in aviation in kids. Volunteer pilots take youngsters up for a 15-20 minute flight, leading them first on a preflight inspection of the plane, and teaching them about the instrument panel, aeronautical charts, and how to identify reference points during the flight. Afterwards, there’s more time for questions. No catches, just the opportunity of a lifetime.
Find a Young Eagles Co-ordinator in New Mexico – the nearest places to Taos are Santa Fe, Los Alamos, and Albuquerque. Then call the volunteer to arrange a flight date. Then come back to tell us how it went!
Happy flying!
